As the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha commenced in Dharamshala, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu addressed the media, urging the opposition to actively participate in meaningful debates rather than resorting to disruptions and walkouts. Receiving a warm welcome from the public upon his arrival, the Chief Minister expressed the government’s readiness for the session and emphasized the importance of addressing public concerns constructively within the House.
CM Sukhu criticized the opposition’s frequent tendency to walk out during replies to their questions, calling it a breach of their constitutional responsibilities. He stated that effective discussions in the assembly are crucial for addressing the pressing issues of the state and highlighted the need for opposition leaders to fulfill their duties responsibly. The Chief Minister also noted that the opposition appeared fragmented and lacked coordination on significant issues.
Commenting on the absence of BJP’s Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, from the all-party meeting held before the session, CM Sukhu remarked that it was unusual and a deviation from established norms. He accused certain BJP MLAs of plotting against their own leader, which he suggested might explain the lack of representation at the meeting. Sukhu emphasized the importance of unity and adherence to protocol in such discussions, which are aimed at fostering dialogue among all political parties.
The Chief Minister reiterated his appeal to the opposition to prioritize the welfare of the people by engaging in constructive debates and working collaboratively for the state’s progress.
