CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Urges Timely Completion of Key Road Projects

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has called for expedited efforts in the ongoing road projects across Himachal Pradesh, emphasizing adherence to quality and timelines. In a recent review meeting, Sukhu evaluated the progress of various four-lane and other road constructions managed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), the Ministry of Surface Transport, and the State Public Works Department.

The Chief Minister directed the NHAI to fully develop the Shimla-Matour and Mandi-Pathankot roads into four lanes, aimed at facilitating smoother travel and boosting tourism. Highlighting Kangra district’s development as the state’s Tourism Capital, Sukhu stressed the importance of these roads in enhancing tourist activities. He also emphasized improving the aesthetic appeal of these routes and advocated for the construction of tunnels to minimize hill cutting. The completion of these four-lane projects is expected to yield significant time and cost savings for commuters. Specifically, the Shimla-Nauni road segment is slated to begin post-monsoon and is targeted for completion by September 2026.

In addressing the Pinjore-Nalagarh-Baddi four-lane project, Sukhu stressed its importance for the local industries and directed the responsible parties to expedite its completion by the end of 2025. The Chief Minister also reviewed progress on the Shimla Bypass project, Shimla-Solan four lane, and the widening and strengthening of the Mandi-Hamirpur and Paonta-Shillai roads, ensuring full cooperation from the State Government for their timely completion.

The review meeting saw participation from Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, and other senior officials, including representatives from NHAI and PWD. The collective focus remains on enhancing the state’s infrastructure, crucial for economic growth and public convenience.
