Devastating Floods Engulf Larji Power House, Workers Brave Escape to Safety
In a catastrophic incident, the power house of the Larji Project has been inundated with water from the Beas River. The turbine and other equipment within the power house have been destroyed. The Power house suffered a major breach at its main entrance gate, allowing the entry of Beas River water.
As a consequence, all four floors of the power house have been completely submerged, rendering them inoperable. Prompt action by the stationed officials and employees averted any human casualties as they managed to evacuate in time. The power house, being the most profitable asset of the Project Electricity Board, has incurred significant damage.
Additionally, in a desperate bid to preserve their lives, the workers at the Larji Power House hastily evacuated the premises, running for safety as the catastrophic floodwaters surged in. Their swift response and quick thinking ensured their survival amidst the perilous situation.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station is likely to face a shutdown due to the increasing silt content in the Sutlej River. As a result, approximately 2500 cubic meters of excess water is expected to be released from the Nathpa Dam, causing a substantial rise in the water level of the river. In light of this, individuals are urged to maintain a safe distance from the Satluj River.
The Larji Project, a crucial hydroelectric endeavor, has faced a severe setback with the loss of its power house infrastructure. Authorities are now assessing the extent of the damage and formulating plans to mitigate the impact on the region’s power supply. Further updates on the situation will be provided as the investigation progresses.
