Dharamsala MLA Sudhir Sharma: Prioritizing Constituency Development Over Ministerial Ambitions

Dharamsala MLA Sudhir Sharma, in a recent interaction, addressed queries about his apparent lack of interest in assuming a ministerial role, despite indications from the Chief Minister hinting at such an offer. Sharma articulated a perspective focused on his commitment to the Dharamsala assembly constituency, emphasizing the greater impact he believes he can achieve in his current position.

“I believe that serving as an MLA allows me to accomplish more for the Dharamsala assembly constituency,” Sharma stated. He elaborated on the constraints of ministerial responsibilities, noting, “When you are a minister, your duties extend across the entire state, which invariably dilutes your ability to dedicate full attention and resources to your own constituency.”

Sharma further argued that his effectiveness in securing resources and driving initiatives for Dharamsala surpasses what he could achieve as a minister. “As an MLA, I am able to mobilize more resources for our constituency than a minister might be able to do,” he remarked.

Highlighting a principled stance against seeking ministerial office for personal advancement, Sharma questioned the value of a ministerial position if it compromises one’s ability to serve their constituency effectively. “Assuming a ministerial role for a brief period, motivated by personal gains, does not allow one to do justice to their own area. So, what then is the benefit of such a ministerial post?” he concluded.

Sharma’s comments reflect a dedicated focus on local governance and a commitment to the welfare of the Dharamsala constituency, prioritizing impactful work over the prestige of a ministerial title.

On Saturday Congress National Secretary and Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for numerous projects across the Dharamshala constituency, both in urban and rural areas. Among the initiatives, he introduced a real-time water monitoring system near Dari Mela ground, marking the city’s second installation to ensure water quality for residents. Dharamshala now joins the ranks of few cities in the state with such advanced water monitoring, with plans for further expansions from city to village under Sharma’s direction.

Additionally, Sharma laid foundation stones for the beautification of Rakkar Mohali Chowk, development projects at Sacred Heart and Masjid Chowk, and infrastructure projects including Children Park, Community Halls, new panchayat houses, sports grounds, a martyrs’ gate, and community centers across various localities. Infrastructure improvements for Patwar buildings in Mandal and Chaitru Panchayats were also initiated.

Sharma emphasized the importance of timely completion of these works, directing officials from the Electricity Board, PWD, and Jal Shakti Department to address issues such as water supply, road drainage, and electricity voltage problems promptly, ensuring progress in both the Municipal Corporation and Smart City projects.
