Amritsar, Punjab, India (December 19, 2023): In a display of vigilance and swift action, Border Security Force (BSF) troops and Punjab Police successfully intercepted a drone carrying a packet of heroin in the early hours of December 19th near Dhanoe Khurd village, Amritsar district.
Alert Troops Foil Smuggling Bid:
- Around dawn, BSF troops spotted a suspicious drone flying near Dhanoe Khurd village. Following protocol, they immediately reacted and intercepted the drone.
- A joint search operation with Punjab Police was launched in the surrounding area. At approximately 4:20 AM, they discovered a quadcopter drone (DJI Mavic 3 Classic, Made in China) along with a packet containing 430 grams of heroin wrapped in yellow tape with a nylon string ring and a small torch attached.
- The consignment was cleverly attached to the drone using a hold-and-release mechanism.
Smuggling Attempt Thwarted:
- This timely interception by the BSF and Punjab Police effectively foiled another attempt by smugglers to use drones for illegal activities.
