Ending Regionalism and Nepotism: Haryana’s Path to Inclusive Growth

Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, while addressing a state-level function in Kaithal on the occasion of Maharaja Shaurya Saini Jayanti, reflected on the transformative progress Haryana has witnessed under the BJP government. He pointed out that prior to 2014, Haryana’s development was marred by regionalism and nepotism. However, in the last decade, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state has transitioned towards equitable development for all communities.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Haryana’s public trust in BJP’s governance has led to a historic third consecutive term for the party. This milestone underscores the alignment of the state government with the ethos of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas,” ensuring inclusivity in its development agenda.

The opposition came under sharp criticism for questioning the integrity of electoral processes, particularly Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Saini dismissed these allegations as baseless, accusing Congress of spreading misinformation and creating political confusion. He argued that BJP’s repeated electoral victories are a testament to the trust and blessings of the people, rather than any technological manipulation.

In his speech, the Chief Minister elaborated on the significant policy reforms introduced in the first assembly session of his government’s third term. Landmark measures in the agriculture sector include the Haryana Agricultural Land Lease Bill-2024, aimed at fostering trust between tenant farmers and landowners. Furthermore, tenants occupying Shamlat land for over two decades have been granted ownership rights, a monumental step in ensuring land security for farmers. Similarly, villagers residing in houses built on up to 500 square yards of land for over 20 years were conferred ownership titles, strengthening rural housing rights.

The government’s focus on employment was evident as Saini noted the provision of government jobs to 26,000 youths without any favoritism or corruption. Over 1.71 lakh youth have been recruited during BJP’s tenure, and job security has been extended to 1.2 lakh contractual employees under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam. Welfare schemes such as increasing accident insurance from ₹30 lakh to ₹50 lakh and term insurance from ₹2 lakh to ₹4 lakh were also emphasized.

Social welfare initiatives under the “Har Ghar Grihini Yojna,” including subsidized gas cylinders at ₹500 for 13 lakh families, have significantly alleviated financial burdens on economically weaker sections. Healthcare services for the elderly and patients requiring dialysis have been expanded, benefiting thousands. Moreover, the government’s commitment to procuring every grain of major crops like paddy, millet, and moong at MSP reflects its dedication to farmers’ welfare. A bonus of ₹825 crore was distributed to compensate for losses due to insufficient rainfall, underlining the administration’s sensitivity to agricultural challenges.

The Chief Minister concluded with a vision of continued progress, reaffirming the government’s pledge to fulfill promises made in the Sankalp Patra. As Haryana moves forward, the administration’s policies aim to ensure that the benefits of governance reach every corner of the state, leaving no community or region behind.
