Ensure all possible help to destitute : Chief Minister
The Chief Minister Office has swung into action to help the destitute people during the harsh winter season. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while taking cognizance of the hardships faced by the destitute people of the State has instructed all the Deputy Commissioners that the district administration must come forward to extend a helping hand to the homeless.
He directed them to make sure to provide necessary items like quilts, blankets etc. to all the homeless people who are forced to face vagaries of nature due to harsh winters. Directions were issued to shift such helpless people to labour hostels or shelter homes.
The Chief Minister said that the present State government is committed for the betterment of people of the state. He directed all the DCs to make efforts to work in this direction so that every section of society could get the benefits of developmental schemes started by the present State government.
He said that Deputy Commissioners of all the districts must inspect the condition of the people residing on the footpaths in the bitter cold and shift them to shelter homes.
