Tragedy struck the ongoing farmers’ protest in Haryana today as a young farmer, Shubh Karan Singh, lost his life during a clash with the police at the Khanauri border. The 23-year-old resident of Bathinda allegedly succumbed to a bullet wound sustained during the altercation, according to the All-India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) farmers’ group.
This unfortunate incident has led to the farmers’ group suspending their planned march to Delhi for two days, while their sit-in protest at the border continues. The news has cast a shadow over the ongoing agitation and raised concerns about the use of force against protestors.
Details regarding the incident remain unclear at this time. While AIKS claims the death occurred due to police action, confirmation awaits a post-mortem examination. A doctor at the Patiala hospital where Singh was taken confirmed receiving three patients from Khanauri, one of whom was dead on arrival. The other two individuals reportedly sustained bullet injuries but are in stable condition.
This incident highlights the escalating tensions surrounding the ongoing farmers’ protests and underscores the need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing dispute.
