In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” (One India, Great India), the foundation day of 13 states and union territories was celebrated at Raj Bhavan on November 1, 2023.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that the objective of celebrating these days was to strengthen the spirit of fraternity, integrity, and love for the nation, and to memorialize the efforts of the people who strived hard for gaining statehood.

The practice of celebrating the foundation days of all states and union territories has been started in all states to better know and understand their history, culture, and customs, said the Governor.

“We may belong to any state, from any community, caste, or creed, but we are Indians first, and it was essential to sensitize all sections of society and spread the message of unanimity and love,” he said.

Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion.

Colorful cultural programs were also performed depicting the diverse cultures of states like Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and others. Senior Indian Forest Service Officer from Kerala Ravi Shankar, along with his wife Rajisha, also gave a scintillating musical performance.

People from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Haryana participated in the program.

Governor Shukla presented Rs 31,000 each as an incentive to the cultural troupes who presented colorful programs, including St. Bede’s College, Fine Arts College, Shimla, and Government Senior Secondary School, Lalpani.
