Kangra district in Himachal is experiencing Heavy rain

Wet weather predicted for next 5 days in Himachal

The monsoon is very active in Himachal for the last 10 days, particular in the lower areas. Kangra district ,the catchment for the Pong dam reservoir of Beas river is receiving tremendous rainfall. Water level in Pong reservoir, which supply water to Punjab, Haryana, have started showing improvement in the wake of heavy rain in this  area . The water levels has rose sharply by about 23 feet each during last fortnight, and the rain is still continuing in Kangra district which is the major  catchment  area of this  dam. Palampur town in the district received the  heavy rainfall of the state in the past 24 hours ,with rain gouge touching  185 mm mark.According to the meteorological department of the state the   Palampurwas followed by  Jogindernagar-120, Gaggal-118, Nagrota Suriyan-117, Baijnath-114, Dharmshala-113, Dalhousie-77, Pandoh-66, Sujanpur Tira & Nurpur-52 each, Guler-43, Bhoranj-42, Gohar-32, Kheri-29, Mandi-26, Bhuntar-23, Bajura-20, hamba-19, Nadaun-16, Mehre-15, Berthin & Dehra Gopipur-13 each, Sundernagar 7 Seobagh-12 each, Saloni and Theog-10 each.

there is no appreciable change in Maximum & Minimum temperatures in last 24 hrs.The Lowest temp recorded at Kalpa was 15° C and Highest at Una 34.6° C.

The official of the metrological center in the state stated that Easterly winds are prevailing over the western Himalayan region at lower levels. Because of this Rain/thundershowers are predicted at most places in Himachal for the next five days.
