Yol based Rising Star Corps and Border Road Task Force (BRTF), Manali mobilized their resources on a war footing to restore the damaged Manali - Rohtang Highway (NH 21) in a record time of twenty four hours. The highway has since been opened for move of heavy traffic.

A cloud burst near Seri Nala on the night of 03 Aug had caused a flash flood in the river and washed away the road on NH-21 in village Palchan. The flood water containing huge boulders and tree trunks also damaged bailey bridges, army barracks, retaining / boundary wall, water supply point and approach road at Palchan.

The Corps Commander of Rising Star and Commander BRTF visited the site today morning and assessed the damage to decide the further course of action. “Whereas every one estimated the restoration work to take one week, the BRTF  has worked round the clock and restored traffic on strategic Manali-Leh highway in flat 24 hours,” said the Corps Commander. “We already have Army Engineers taking stock of the situation in location.” “The bridges, roads and other assets will also be repaired at the earliest.” informed the Corps Commander.
