Chandigarh: Sh. Lingaraj Mahapatra, Probationary Officer of 1978 batch took over the helm at the State Bank of India, Chandigarh Circle today replacing Sh N.K Chari who is proceeding to the Bank's Corporate Centre at Mumbai to take over, on his promotion as Dy. Managing Director, the portfolio of Retail & Strategy in the National Banking Group. The Chandigarh Circle comprises the four Northern States viz. Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and U.T Chandigarh.

Sh. Lingaraj Mahapatra is a Physics Hons Graduate, Post graduate in History and has an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He has held various assignments during 35 years long career in diverse operational fields. He has rich experience in Mid-Corporate Finance, MSME Finance and was the senior faculty in Credit and International Banking at State Bank Staff College. He has extensive exposure to both theoretical and operational aspects of Credit Risk Management and also held the post of Assistant Vice President, IB at our SBI, New York Branch.

Prior to assuming the charge of Chief General Manager of Chandigarh Circle, Shri Mahapatra was holding the assignment of GM, Zonal Inspection Office, Hyderabad giving him valuable experience in Audit and Inspection. He brings vast operational experience to the assignment in almost all aspects of grass-root banking.
