“Swachhta Sapath” under “Swachh Bharat Mission” launched by the Prime Minister

This year on 2nd October, 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi has been celebrated in a very special way by observing “Swachhta Sapath” under “Swachh Bharat Mission” launched by the Prime Minister.

                   Adviser to the Administrator, K.K. Sharma administered the Swachhta Pledge to all the employees of U.T. Secretariat in the U.T. Secretariat compound, Sector 9, Chandigarh and a large number of officers and officials were present.  The prominent among those were Anil Kumar, Home Secretary, Sarvajit Singh, Finance Secretary, Gulab Singh, Legal Remembrancer, SB Deepak Kumar, Additional Secretary Home, M M Sabharwal, Joint Secretary Home and Director Public Relations, Chief Architect, Ms. Sumit Kaur, S.K. Chadha, Chief Engineer and the senior office bearers of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Chandigarh namely Arvinder Pal Singh, Manmohan Singh and Gurvinder Juneja were also a part of the gathering as a special participants.

                   Before the administration of “Swachhta Pledge”, Anil Kumar, Home Secretary, UT, Chandigarh started the ceremony with the opening remarks that Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of an India which was not only free but also clean and developed.  Mahata Gandhi secured freedom for Mother India.  Now it is our duty to serve Mother India by keeping the country neat and clean.

                   All present on the occasion took the pledge with great enthusiasm, deep sense of responsibility and the commitment towards “Swachh Bharat Mission”.  K.K. Sharma, Adviser to the Administrator, in his address to the employees appreciated the involvement of the employees and the general public in this mission and said that although “Swachh Bharat Mission” has been slated for 5 years yet the manner it begun he was sure that it shall go a long way and rather all time to come.  In his address he also instilled a sense of responsibility for cleanliness all around the city.

                   On this occasion K.K. Sharma, Adviser to the Administrator released a poster published by the Director Public Relations, UT Chandigarh with the initiative of Hotel and Restaurant Association Chandigarh.
