Rich tributes paid to first Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Parmar

Shimla: The first chief minister and the archtect of Himachal Pradesh late shri YS Parmar is rembered all across Himachal Pradesh today.Rich tributes were paid to the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Dr. Y.S. Parmar on his 109th birth anniversary at Shimla today. Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh paid floral tributes to Dr. Parmar at his statue at The Ridge and later on at State Vidhan Sabha.

Speaking at the function organized in Vidhan Sabha to commemorate birth anniversary of Dr. Parmar, Shri Virbhadra Singh said that Dr. Parmar was a great visionary and leader of repute. The Chief Minister said the State Government was working hard to realize the dream of Dr. Parmar to make Himachal Pradesh the most progressive, self-sufficient and prosperous State. The State Government was following the foot steps of Dr. Parmar for uniform and speedy development of all areas of the State rising above all the considerations.

 Shri Virbhadra Singh said he had been following the ideals of Dr. Parmar and was working committedly for all-round development of the State.  Today, Himachal was one of the fast developing State and also a model of development for other hill states, he added. 

He said that the issue raised by Dr. Parmar pertaining to Statehood was taken lightly by some but his dreams were accomplished. It was due to continuous efforts of the successive Congress governments that Himachal today stands as a pioneer State in development. 

Speaker, H.P. Vidhan Sabha Shri B.B.L. Butail said that Dr. Parmar had a lot of knowledge of human psychology and made research in Himalayan polyandry. He was a great litterateur and had great interest in reading. He was committed towards preservation of forests and formulated idea of forest farming. He referred Dr. Parmar as iron man of Himachal Pradesh.
