H.P. Wins National Award under NHIS for third time

Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Health Minister informed here today that the State has been conferred another National Award in health sector for 'Best Enrolment Rate' which has been determined on the basis of percentage of enrolled BPL families under National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and added that State had won Award under the Scheme consecutively for the third time. He said that in addition to this,  Shri R.P. Sharma, Chief Executive Officer, Himachal Pradesh National Insurance  Scheme Society, Health and Family Welfare Department, Himachal Pradesh has also been conferred National Award for his distinguished services in effective implementation of the scheme.  

The award was presented by Union Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge in a National-level Workshop held at Raipur in Chhatisgarh today.The Minister said that the scheme for BPL families was implemented in all the districts of the State on 1st March, 2010 under which Smart Card holders were eligible to get medical assistance of Rs. 30,000. He said that the patients needing critical care were eligible to get medical assistance of Rs. 1.75 lakh.  He said that Himachal Pradesh has also included ayurvedic treatment under the scheme. He said that the process of preparing Smart Cards was started from 7th February, 2010 and 235131 BPL families were issued such cards. He said that under the second phase of the scheme 29101 patients were benefited, who claimed Rs. 11.63 crore.
