‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday’ campaign to be launched in all panchayats

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Anil Sharma revealed here today that as per the directions of the Union Panchayati Raj Ministry, ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday’ campaign would be launched in all 3226 gram panchayats of the State.  The campaign would begin from 14 April 2016 on the occasion of 125th   birth anniversary of  Dr. Bhim Rao Ambekar and conclude on 24th April, 2016 which is celebrated as panchayat diwas.

The Minister said various activities aimed at creating social harmony would be organized during the campaign and the students residing in the panchayats areas who had excelled in education, sports, art and culture would also be honoured besides creating awareness amongst the masses about the various schemes being implemented by the government to eliminate disparity from the society.

He said that in the second phase of this campaign to be held from 17 to 20 April, 2016 meetings of the farmers would be conducted on some single day in the gram panchayats to make them aware about various schemes being implemented for their welfare besides taking their suggestions for increasing agriculture production. In the third phase schedule from 21 to 24 April, 2016 the meeting of gram-sabha would be organized where emphasis would be on cleanliness, cultural and sports programmes.  During the gram-sabha meetings local issues, proper utilization of panchayat funds safe drinking water and role of women in rural development would be discussed. He said the information would also be given regarding various schemes of the government aimed at welfare of the farmers and weaker section of the society.

Shri Anil Sharma said that 18 elected women of the tribal areas of the State would participate in the national level meeting of the tribal women sarpanch to be held on 19th April, 2016 at Vijayawada.  Besides, 40 elected representatives of the State would participate in the national level panchayat diwas being organized on 24th April, 2016 at Jamshedpur.
