Science, Commerce streams will be introduced in all schools: Chief Minister

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh today laid  the foundation stone of Mela Ground Tindi in tribal  Lahaul and Spiti district which will be constructed at a cost of around Rs. 74 lakh with provision of stage, pavements, protection works, fencing etc. This ground is quite famous for traditional ‘Seri Jatter’ organised in October every year, where people from as far as Chamba district come to pay obeisance to Mrikula Devi.  


While addressing the people, the Chief Minister announced upgradation of Middle School Bhujund to high school. He said that modern education was the need of the hour, and the government was also mulling to introduce science and commerce streams in all Government Senior Schools of the State in near future in a phased manner. 

He said that Lahaul had rich culture,  traditions and people have preserved their customs and traditions, which was a matter of great pride. He said we all should be proud of our language, customs and culture. He also paid obeisance at the old Mrikula Devi Temple at Tindi. He announced a sum of Rs. 20,000 from his discretionary fund to the school children of GSSS, Kuthad at Tindi for promotion of cultural programme. 

Local MLA Shri Ravi Thakur  and the local people accorded warm welcome to  the Chief Minister and  thanked him for his two days visit to the far flung tribal district. 

Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Tindi Shri Sandeep Kumar, placed forth demands of the area. He urged for HIMURJA power house for overcoming the severe problem of electricity, construction of road to Kurched and bridge over river Chandrabhaga to connect Aaghaar and Bahaada villages.
