   1. India to get world’s best Air Defence System S-400 from Russia ; Check details; Later this year, Russia is going to deliver the first regimental set of S-400 Triumf ‘SA-21 Growler’ air defence systems.


2. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will visit India from April 25 and is set to agree a Roadmap 2030' for re-energised India-UK relations across trade and investment and climate action, the Indian High Commission in London said* 


3.' Peaceful Indian Ocean important': Maldives FM; thanks India for support for UNGA prez candidature* :  Calling his country as "heart of the Indian ocean", Maldives Foreign minister Abdulla Shahid has called for a "peaceful, prosperous and stable" which is an "essential factor" for the "prosperity of Maldives".


4. France has agreed to join India's Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative. On paper, the project embraces cooperation on climate change and academic exchanges, but its main purpose seems to be strategic. And it fits into US plans for a growing coalition of democracies, aimed at stemming China's increased assertiveness in the region.


5. The Indian Space Research Organisation recently signed an agreement with the French Space Agency CNES.* CNES is National Centre for Space Studies. CNES stands for Centre National d’etudes Spatiales. According to the agreement, CNES is to help India in its first Human Space Mission called the Gaganyaan.


WORLD NEWS 

1. The U.S. will continue to push Pakistan hard on supporting the diplomatic efforts to ensure peace in Afghanistan as it has an interest over the longer term in avoiding insecurity and instability in the war-torn neighbouring country that can spill over and affect its own interest, CIA Director William Burns has said.


2.  US to withdraw troops from Afghanistan: Govt in Kabul may become the ‘sacrificial lamb’ says expert:* The US decision to pull back its troops from Afghanistan by 11 September this year, two decades after being victims of a spectacular terrorist attack, would draw the curtains down from a war that had tested its patience and endurance for remaining engaged in a war torn country.


3. The United Nations Population Fund recently released a report “My Body is My Own”. The report is about women’s power to make decisions on their bodies. It also reported about the laws in different countries that support women rights in this matter.


4.  The US health authorities recently paused the rollout of one-shot Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.* The vaccine uses similar technology as that of the Astra Zeneca vaccine. Both the vaccines are developed from adenoviral vectors.
 
5. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is to launch four astronauts to the International Space Station on World Earth Day (April 22).* NASA is to launch the mission along with SpaceX.


6. The opponents of the military government in Myanmar under the banner of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) announced the formation of a National Unity Government (NUG) on Friday. The government will be headed by the deposed president U Win Myint as President and Aung San Suu Kyi as the State Counsellor.
