“Governor Banwari Lal Purohit Pays Tribute to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose on Prakram Diwas”

Chandigarh, January 23: On the commemoration of Prakram Diwas, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT, Chandigarh, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, expressed heartfelt tributes to the legendary Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. In a solemn ceremony held at Punjab Raj Bhawan on Tuesday, Governor Purohit, along with officials, laid floral tributes at the memorial in honor of Netaji on his birth anniversary.

Bowing in deep reverence and offering glowing tributes to the iconic leader, Governor Purohit highlighted Netaji’s embodiment of valor, determination, and sacrifice. He emphasized Netaji’s pivotal role in liberating India from the shackles of British rule. The powerful slogans coined by Netaji, including ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Give me blood, and I will give you freedom,’ resonated with patriotism and fueled the spirit of nationalism among Indians during the freedom struggle.

Governor Purohit pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has bestowed honors upon Netaji Subash Chandra Bose by unveiling a grand 28-feet statue at India Gate. This gesture, which replaced the statue of George V, and renaming Raj Path as Kartavya Path, symbolize the removal of the remnants of slavery. Governor Purohit stated, “The nation will forever remain indebted to Netaji for his immense contribution to India’s fight for freedom.”

Shri K. Siva Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Punjab, and other officers and staff members of Raj Bhavan were present during the solemn occasion.
