Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla Emphasizes Cultural Heritage Significance at International Renuka Ji Fair
Addressing the concluding ceremony of the International Renuka Ji fair in Sirmaur district, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla highlighted the integral role of fairs and festivals in preserving our rich cultural heritage. He stressed the responsibility of the younger generation in safeguarding these values as the state progresses towards prosperity. Lady Governor Janaki Shukla also graced the occasion.
Governor Shukla expressed concern about the growing issue of drug abuse in Himachal Pradesh, overshadowing the state’s prosperity. He urged collective efforts to combat drug addiction, emphasizing the need to save Himachal from this menace. Acknowledging Sirmaur’s progress in agriculture and horticulture, the Governor encouraged further development from a tourism perspective. He called for the beautification of Shri Renuka Ji Lake.
Highlighting the significance of the Renuka Ji fair, Governor Shukla mentioned its representation of Lord Parshuram’s reverence for Goddess Renuka Ji and the rich values of Indian society. He underscored the importance of preserving fairs and festivals as symbols of the state’s cultural heritage. The Governor congratulated everyone involved in organizing the fair, noting the religious sanctity of Goddess Renuka Ji, attracting visitors from across India.
Governor Shukla participated in pooja ceremonies at Lord Parshuram Ji and Mata Renuka Ji temples, joining the ‘Dev Vidai’ procession. The event also featured Sirmauri Nati performances and exhibitions by government and non-government organizations. The Governor interacted with beneficiaries of welfare schemes, emphasizing his interest in local initiatives.
MP Suresh Kashyap, MLA Vinay Kumar, Superintendent of Police Raman Kumar Meena, and other dignitaries attended the ceremony, where Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta honored and welcomed the Governor.
Upon his arrival in Sirmaur, the Governor received a warm welcome at Maina helipad by local MLA Vinay Kumar, DC, and senior district officers.
