Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla Inaugurates Historic Minjar Fair, Stresses on Preserving Himachal Pradesh’s Glorious History and Rich Folk Traditions

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, in his first visit to Chamba district as the Governor, graced the inauguration of the revered Minjar fair. The Governor highlighted the significance of Himachal Pradesh’s glorious history and cultural traditions in the state’s progress and development. Emphasizing the need to preserve these invaluable traditions for future generations, he applauded the Minjar festival for promoting brotherhood and fraternity, showcasing the unique identity of Himachal Pradesh’s culture.
During the event, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla expressed concern over the recent loss of life and property caused by heavy rains and floods in the state. He commended the efforts of the Indian Air Force, Army, paramilitary forces, and locals for their significant contributions in relief and rescue operations. The Governor appreciated the swift response of the government, administration, and police force, as well as the central assistance of over 350 crores, in restoring normalcy. He called upon Non-Governmental Organizations to extend their support during these challenging times.
Addressing a grave concern, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla raised awareness about the rising drug addiction in the state. He assured that the State Government is taking serious measures to combat this menace and emphasized the need for collective action against this societal evil. Preserving culture and traditions is vital in countering anti-social elements seeking to harm society.
Amidst the festivities, the Governor officially inaugurated the Minjar Mela by hoisting the national flag to the enchanting tunes of Kunjdi Malhar songs. He visited the ancient Lakshminarayan temple to seek blessings and presented a Minjar.
As part of the celebrations, the Governor inaugurated an arts and crafts fair and an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the present government.
Additionally, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla announced the commencement of the Minjar Mela Sports Competitions, fostering enthusiasm and unity among participants.
The Governor was honored by the Organizing Committee, represented by Deputy Commissioner and President of the Mela Committee, Apoorva Devgan. Abhishek Yadav, Superintendent of Police, also extended his gratitude on behalf of Minjar Mela Sports Committee.
President of Municipal Council Chamba, Neelam Nayyar, presented a Minjar to the Governor, while Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was honored by the wife of Deputy Commissioner, Shweta Devgan.
The occasion witnessed the felicitation of Speaker, HP Vidhan Sabha Kuldeep Singh Pathania, MLA Neeraj Nayyar, D.S. Thakur, and former minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri by the Mela Committee.
Prominent individuals, including Secretary to the Governor, Sandeep Kadam, Councilors of Municipal Council, officers from various departments, and distinguished guests, graced the event with their presence.
The Minjar Fair, with its cultural splendor and age-old traditions, continues to be a symbol of Himachal Pradesh’s heritage, reflecting the essence of unity and celebration among its people.
