“Grand Finale of National Printmaking Workshop: An Ode to India’s Artistic Heritage”

Chandigarh, August 12, 2023 –

A momentous journey of artistic collaboration and cultural celebration culminated today with the closing ceremony of the National Printmaking Workshop. This workshop, a joint endeavor by the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi, the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, and the Government College of Art, came to a dazzling close in an evening that exuded artistic brilliance.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Banwarilal Purohit, the Honourable Governor of Punjab and Administrator of U.T Chandigarh, lending his distinguished stature to the occasion. Shri Dharam Pal, Advisor to the Administrator, further elevated the event’s prestige as the Guest of Honour.

As a tribute to India’s 75th Independence anniversary, the National Printmaking Workshop brought together visionary printmakers from across the nation. These artistic luminaries delved into their creative depths to produce exceptional works that resonate with the theme of “Ek Bharat Sresheth Bharat,” embodying the essence of unity in diversity.

In the midst of India’s Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating 75 years of independence, this workshop emerged as a testament to art’s profound ability to encapsulate historical significance. The vibrant strokes of creative excellence converged, casting a radiant rainbow across the canvas of the nation’s artistic spirit.

The collaboration between the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi, the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, and the Government College of Art has woven an exceptional artistic journey that intricately intertwines with the rich cultural tapestry of the country. The closing ceremony of the National Printmaking Workshop served as a fitting crescendo to this symphony of creativity and heritage.

Set against the backdrop of the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Sector 10 Chandigarh, the event welcomed dignitaries including Shri Vinod P. Kavle IAS, Secretary Culture, Shri Sorabh Kumar Arora, Director Culture, Shri V. Nagdas, Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, and Dr. Rahas Kumar Mohanty, Secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. Their presence added another layer of significance to an evening that will resonate within the corridors of artistic history.
