Grand Nagar Kirtan Celebrates Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Purab at Guru Nanak Dev University

Amritsar, (Rahul Soni): In a solemn and joyous celebration, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, organized a grand Nagar Kirtan to commemorate the Prakash Purab (birth anniversary) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. The entire university campus was immersed in spiritual fervor as students, faculty, and staff participated in the procession with great devotion.

The Nagar Kirtan, a religious procession, commenced from the university’s Gurdwara Sahib. The event was graced by the presence of the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jaspal Singh Sandhu, and Professor Amarjit Singh, Head of the Guru Granth Sahib Studies Department. The Vice-Chancellor performed the ceremonial start of the Nagar Kirtan by placing the Guru Granth Sahib in a beautifully adorned palanquin.

As the Nagar Kirtan progressed through the campus, it was warmly welcomed by students and faculty from various departments. The procession passed through residential areas D Block, E Block, and Bhai Mardana Administrative Block, where the Registrar, Professor Karnail Singh Kahlon, and other non-teaching staff joined the congregation. The Nagar Kirtan concluded at the Gurdwara Sahib in the evening, where the congregation was mesmerized by the soulful kirtan performed by Hazoori Ragi Dr. Jatinder Singh.
