Haryana Agriculture Minister Suspends Four Officers Over Negligence During Surprise Inspection

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Shyam Singh Rana, has taken strict action against four officials of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, ordering their immediate suspension for negligence in duty. The decision was made following a surprise inspection of grain markets in Sadhaura and Raipur Rani towns in Yamunanagar district. The minister’s visit was aimed at ensuring accountability and efficiency in the functioning of these markets, which play a crucial role in the state’s agricultural ecosystem.

During his inspection of the Sadhaura Grain Market, the Agriculture Minister checked the attendance and functioning of officers and employees stationed there. It was found that Mandi Secretary Dharmendra Singh and Auction Recorder Bijendra Singh were absent from duty without authorization. Following this, he proceeded to Raipur Rani Grain Market, where a similar situation was observed. Mandi Secretary Navdeep Singh and Auction Recorder Rajkumar were also found missing from their designated posts. Taking immediate action, Shyam Singh Rana issued orders for the suspension of all four officers on the spot, setting a strong precedent for accountability and discipline within the department.

The Agriculture Minister stated that the surprise inspections were conducted in response to repeated complaints regarding the irregular presence of officials in these mandis. Farmers and stakeholders had raised concerns about the frequent absence of officers, which was causing inefficiencies in the functioning of grain markets. To verify the authenticity of these complaints, he personally undertook the inspections and confirmed that officers were indeed neglecting their responsibilities. He asserted that negligence in duty would not be tolerated under any circumstances, and strict action would be taken against any official found failing to fulfill their responsibilities.

In addition to checking attendance, Shyam Singh Rana also reviewed the record registers at the markets and directed officials to ensure that farmers receive all necessary facilities when they arrive at the mandis. He emphasized that the well-being of farmers is the government’s top priority and that all officers must be present at their respective workplaces on time. The minister issued clear instructions to senior officials, warning them that any lapse in duty would invite severe consequences.

Shyam Singh Rana further stated that this inspection was not an isolated case and that similar surprise visits would continue across all mandis and offices in Haryana. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a smooth administrative system so that farmers do not face any difficulties while selling their produce. The minister’s firm action signals a commitment to transparency, efficiency, and accountability in Haryana’s agricultural governance.
