Haryana Celebrates Environmental Milestone: 51 Lakh Saplings Planted in Statewide Drive
Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini Leads Efforts to Implement Prime Minister’s ‘One Tree for Mother’ Campaign
Chandigarh, August 16 – Haryana has made a significant stride towards environmental conservation with the successful execution of the ‘One Tree for Mother’ campaign, an initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On August 16, under the guidance of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, the state achieved an impressive milestone by planting 51 lakh saplings across all districts, marking a major state-level planting event.
The Chief Minister commenced the statewide tree-planting campaign in Kaithal, highlighting the importance of this green initiative. “The monsoon season is an ideal time for planting trees, as the greenery is flourishing during the Sawan month. In line with the Forest Festival, we previously planted 20,000 saplings in Karnal. Our goal is to plant 1.6 crore saplings across the state,” stated Saini.
Saini urged citizens to not only plant but also nurture these saplings to ensure a cleaner environment and healthier air quality. He emphasized that maintaining greenery is crucial for improving individual health and combating pollution.
In his address, the Chief Minister recalled the “Oxy-Van” initiative started during the COVID-19 pandemic to address the shortage of oxygen, which saw the establishment of an “Oxy-Van” in Karnal. This initiative aimed to enhance air quality and provide a sustainable solution for future needs.
Saini stressed the fundamental role of vegetation in life and encouraged everyone to participate in planting trees in their homes, parks, fields, and public spaces, thereby contributing to the Prime Minister’s campaign.
State Minister for Environment, Forests, and Wildlife, Sanjay Singh, expressed his satisfaction with the launch of the state-level ceremony in Kaithal, acknowledging the campaign’s role in honoring both mothers and the Earth through tree planting. Singh commended the Chief Minister’s transparent governance and commitment to equal development across the state, highlighting that the opposition’s discontent stems from the state’s evident progress.
Former Minister and MLA Kamlesh Dhanda, and MLA Leelaram from Kaithal, also addressed the gathering. They, along with senior officials including HAFED Chairman Kailash Bhagat, Additional Chief Secretary of the Forest Department Anand Mohan Sharan, DC Prashant Pawar, and SP Upasana Singh, supported the event, underscoring the state’s dedication to environmental sustainability and community well-being.
