Haryana Chief Minister Advocates Organic Farming and Celebrates Agriculture at Mango Fair
Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh emphasized the importance of organic farming as a pathway for farmers to enhance their income during his address at the 31st Mango Fair held at Yadavindra Garden in Pinjore. He highlighted the state government’s efforts in providing training to farmers to encourage them towards adopting organic farming practices, aimed at ensuring clean and pure food production while boosting agricultural profitability. Mr. Naib Singh lauded the Central Government’s dedicated budget allocation for promoting natural farming, a commitment mirrored by Haryana’s own initiatives in the sector. He urged farmers to embrace organic techniques as a means to not only improve their own livelihoods but also contribute to the well-being of consumers across the state.
The Mango Fair, an annual event organized by the government, showcased over 300 varieties of mangoes from different states including Haryana, UP, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. The Chief Minister personally visited each stall, interacting with farmers and learning about the diverse mango cultivars on display. He expressed satisfaction at the vibrant display of agricultural diversity and the opportunity it provided for farmers to exchange knowledge and expertise. The fair also featured cultural programs and recognized talents in various fields, including honoring musician Subhash Ghosh for his contributions.
Tourism Minister Kanwar Pal highlighted the fair’s role in facilitating cultural exchange and economic opportunities among farmers from different regions. The event not only served as a platform for showcasing mango varieties but also included competitions and cultural performances, enhancing its appeal to visitors from various walks of life. The fair’s craft market exhibited handloom and handicraft products from artisans across Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan, further enriching the cultural experience for attendees.
The festivities were complemented by illuminated gardens adorned with eco-friendly lights, aligning with the government’s ‘Go Green’ initiative. A multi-cuisine food court offered a diverse array of culinary delights, catering to diverse tastes ranging from Indian street food to regional specialties, ensuring a delightful experience for all attendees.
The Mango Fair’s program lineup included a variety of activities such as school competitions in rangoli, drawing, poster making, and mango quizzes, showcasing talents and creativity among students. Cultural performances throughout the fair, including Nagada Party, Jangam Party, and various dance and singing performances, added to the festive atmosphere, drawing enthusiastic participation from visitors.
Looking ahead, the fair planned an exciting schedule for its subsequent days, featuring group dance competitions, story writing, slogan writing, nail art, and handwriting competitions for students. Renowned Bollywood singer Vinod Rathore was scheduled to perform, promising a mesmerizing evening of entertainment. The concluding day continued with school competitions in group singing, drawing, best out of waste, mehndi design, and mango eating, culminating in a lively performance by Punjabi singers Ashok Masti and Gurpreet Ghuggi.
The event was attended by various dignitaries including ACS Kala Ramachandran, Principal Secretary Navdeep Singh Work, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Yash Garg, DCP Himadri Kaushik, SDM Lakshit Sareen, and other officials, underscoring the government’s commitment to promoting agriculture, culture, and community engagement through such vibrant celebrations.
