Haryana Chief Minister Celebrates Cultural Heritage at Kurukshetra University’s Ratnavali Festival
Chandigarh, October 28 – Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini stated that the Ratnavali Festival at Kurukshetra University is a remarkable gathering that connects the youth with the state’s rich music, art, and culture. He emphasized that Haryana has always been a center of eternal knowledge, prosperity, and valor since the times of warriors. The cultural wealth of this state dates back to the Vedic era, and the Ratnavali Festival plays a crucial role in preserving and promoting this heritage. He highlighted that this festival is essential for the cultural development journey of Haryana.
While addressing the four-day state-level Ratnavali Festival held in the auditorium of Kurukshetra University, Chief Minister Saini, along with former minister Shri Subhash Sudha and Vice-Chancellor Professor Somnath Sachdeva, also visited the craft fair. The Chief Minister extended his warm wishes to the people of Haryana for Diwali and other festivals, praising Kurukshetra University as one of the leading institutions in the country for knowledge, science, research, skill development, sports, and culture. He pointed out that few universities in the country not only focus on education but also work to preserve the culture of their regions. The Ratnavali Festival is a unique effort to safeguard Haryana’s cultural heritage, which has been celebrated at this university for the past 37 years. The festival aims to engage the youth with Haryana’s music, art, and culture, making it an important initiative for cultural development in the state. Each year, the festival attempts to connect youth with new forms of art.
The Chief Minister remarked that the Ratnavali Festival plays a meaningful role in reviving Haryanvi folk culture and instilling a sense of pride in students about their rich heritage. He described the festival as a remarkable convergence of literature, music, and art. Over 3,000 students are showcasing their talents in 34 different forms of art during this festival.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Somnath Sachdeva expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and other guests, sharing that the Ratnavali Festival began in 1985 with eight forms and 300 artists. Today, more than 3,000 students are presenting their skills in 34 categories on the festival stage. The university is committed to making students self-reliant and self-sufficient, holding the distinction of being the first government university in the state with an A++ grade. It ranks third in the country for education, research, and sports, and third among 1,100 universities for cultural activities, while being the top university among 500 government universities.
The event was attended by former minister Shri Subhash Sudha, Deputy Commissioner Shri Rajesh Jogpal, Padma Shri Mahaveer Guddu, along with teachers, artists, and students.
