Haryana Chief Minister Launches “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Campaign to Plant 1.5 Crore Saplings
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced an ambitious environmental initiative aimed at planting 1.5 crore saplings under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. This initiative encourages every citizen to contribute by planting at least one sapling, marking a significant step towards enhancing the state’s greenery and combating pollution.
During a civic felicitation event organized by the Shri Vaishya Agrawal Panchayat in Kurukshetra, Saini emphasized the importance of individual participation in this campaign. He stated that 20,000 saplings were planted simultaneously in Karnal and 5,000 in Kurukshetra as part of the campaign’s launch. This effort aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for environmental protection.
In addition to the plantation drive, the Chief Minister, along with MP Naveen Jindal and Minister of State Subhash Sudha, laid the foundation stone for the air-conditioned Agrasen Bhawan in Sector 8, Kurukshetra. A grant of Rs 31 lakh was announced for this project, which aims to enhance facilities for both tourists and local residents visiting the area.
Saini highlighted the ongoing development efforts by both the central and state governments over the past decade, which have focused on improving basic facilities for citizens. He noted that discussions at the recent NITI Aayog meeting would further accelerate development in Haryana.
MP Naveen Jindal remarked that Kurukshetra is becoming a prominent tourism hub, with government initiatives aimed at attracting visitors from around the world. The new Agrasen Bhawan is designed to provide high-level amenities for tourists and locals alike.
Minister of State Subhash Sudha expressed optimism that the new building would become a focal point for the community, reinforcing the government’s commitment to development in the Thanesar constituency, which has seen an investment of around Rs 5,000 crore over the last ten years.
