Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini Honors HCS-2023 Achievers, Stresses on Public Service and Merit-Based Government Jobs
Chandigarh, July 17 – Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini felicitated the 113 successful candidates of Haryana Civil Services-2023, emphasizing the primary duty of officers to serve the public and simplify their lives. At the ceremony, he directed the Chief Secretary to ensure all selected candidates join their positions immediately. Saini highlighted that in the last decade, the Haryana government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, has ensured transparency in job allocations, offering government jobs based on merit without any influence or expense.
Addressing the successful candidates, the Chief Minister underscored the significance of hard work and honesty in their duties. He contrasted the current merit-based selection system with past practices where government jobs often went to relatives of influential individuals. Thanks to the “Mission Merit” initiative, deserving candidates, including those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, now secure officer positions purely on their merit. This initiative aims to reward hardworking youth, enabling them to join government service based on their abilities and efforts.
Saini acknowledged former Chief Minister and Union Minister Mr. Manohar Lal’s vision for a transparent system, which required a firm stance and systemic changes. The resulting transparency now benefits Haryana’s youth, offering them fair opportunities based on merit. Sharing his personal journey, Saini noted his modest background, with no family history in politics. He attributed his rise to the Chief Minister’s position to the merit-based system introduced by the current administration, breaking the traditional norm where such roles were often inherited by those from political families.
The Chief Minister urged the newly appointed officers to ensure the benefits of government schemes reach the most marginalized sections of society, in line with the Antyodaya philosophy. He emphasized the importance of good governance in simplifying citizens’ lives and providing them with accessible services. Saini highlighted the Samadhan camps, held daily from 9 am to 11 am, where district administration officers, including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, address citizens’ grievances on the spot, significantly alleviating their issues.
Chief Secretary Shri TVSN Prasad, addressing the gathering, called it a historic day for the successful candidates, recognizing their hard work and urging them to remain honest and ethical in their service. He reminded them of their responsibility to address the problems faced by the poor, leveraging their positions to implement solutions effectively.
The ceremony also saw the presence of several high-ranking officials, including Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary of the School Education Department, Mr. Vineet Garg, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. V Umashankar, Special Officer (Community Policing and Outreach), Mr. Pankaj Nain, and Joint Director (Administration) of the Information, Public Relations, Language, and Culture Department, Mr. Gaurav Gupta.
This event underscores the Haryana government’s commitment to transparency and meritocracy in job placements, ensuring that talented and hardworking individuals receive opportunities to serve and uplift society. By prioritizing honesty, hard work, and public service, the administration aims to foster a culture of integrity and efficiency in governance.
