Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini Officially Inducts Cabinet Minister Krishna Bedi into Office

Chandigarh, October 21 – In a ceremonial event held at the Haryana Civil Secretariat, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini officially inducted Krishna Kumar Bedi as the new Cabinet Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, and Antyodaya (Seva). The induction of the new minister marks a significant moment in the Haryana government’s focus on social welfare, as Krishna Bedi assumes the responsibility of overseeing crucial areas that directly impact the underprivileged and marginalized communities of the state.

At the event, Chief Minister Saini congratulated Minister Krishna Kumar Bedi and wished him well as he assumed his new responsibilities. In a moment of celebration, Saini also symbolically offered sweets to the minister, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort aimed at delivering on the promises made to the people of Haryana during the election campaign.

Addressing the media after the event, Chief Minister Saini took a moment to express his gratitude to the people of Haryana for electing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a third term in office. He emphasized that the “double-engine” government, with strong leadership at both the state and central levels under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to drive Haryana’s development even further. With the distribution of portfolios now complete, Saini expressed confidence that his cabinet would deliver on the expectations of the people, ensuring that the promises made during the election campaign are fulfilled through dedicated hard work. He further informed that on October 25, 2024, all newly elected legislators would take their oaths of office, marking the formal beginning of their service to the state.

Chief Minister Saini also took the opportunity to address questions from journalists about the recent challenges posed by the opposition. In a pointed response to the Congress party’s criticism, Saini accused the opposition of deliberately obstructing government efforts to provide jobs through merit-based recruitment without influence or corruption. He claimed that the “recruitment blockade gang” was a Congress-sponsored entity, which was undermining the government’s job creation efforts. Saini noted that the people of Haryana had decisively rejected these tactics by re-electing the BJP to power.

Turning his attention to accusations made by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Saini did not hold back. He dismissed the allegations leveled by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing them of being adept at making baseless claims rather than delivering on their promises. In a direct jibe at AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, Saini reminded the public of Kejriwal’s longstanding promise to clean the Yamuna river, a task that remains unfinished even a decade later. He called on Kejriwal to introspect and give an account of the ₹6,000 crore granted to Delhi by the central government for the development of the state. According to Saini, AAP’s DNA was centered around making accusations rather than governing effectively.

Saini also revealed that he had personally advised Atishi to avoid following the path of her predecessor, Arvind Kejriwal, when she took over as Chief Minister of Delhi. However, Saini lamented that she too had fallen into the same pattern, now resorting to unfounded allegations. He compared AAP’s approach to that of the Congress, accusing both parties of relying on falsehoods to further their political agendas.

In response to a question about Haryana’s efforts in stubble management, Saini proudly highlighted the state’s achievements in the sector. He pointed out that the Supreme Court itself had praised Haryana’s work, urging neighboring Punjab to take lessons from its effective management of stubble burning. The Haryana government, he explained, has offered incentives of ₹1,000 per acre to farmers for adopting stubble management practices, in addition to providing machinery at subsidized rates. He made a direct appeal to farmers, urging them to avoid burning stubble as it not only contributes to pollution but also depletes the soil’s fertility.

After assuming office, Krishna Kumar Bedi expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini for entrusting him with the important portfolio of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. Bedi pledged his commitment to working in line with the Chief Minister’s vision, ensuring that all promises made in the BJP’s manifesto are met. He expressed his readiness to take on the challenge of serving the people and elevating the welfare of marginalized communities under the guidance of Chief Minister Saini.

The event was also attended by other prominent cabinet members, including Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, adding further significance to the day’s proceedings. This induction signals the government’s continued focus on strengthening welfare policies and addressing the needs of the state’s most vulnerable populations.
