Chandigarh, December 24: Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the progress of the 700-bed civil hospital in Gurugram. The ambitious project is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the rapidly growing city.
The meeting was attended by prominent leaders, including Union Minister of State Rao Indrajit Singh, Health Minister Kumari Aarti Singh Rao, Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Pataudi MLA Bimla Chaudhary, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar, Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma, Chief Secretary Vivek Joshi, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Sudhir Rajpal, and Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar.
Key Features of the Upcoming Hospital
The proposed civil hospital, to be built on 7.73 acres in Civil Lines, will feature a state-of-the-art 13-story building, including a basement and ground floor. With an estimated cost of ₹990 crores, the hospital will include advanced medical facilities such as 60 ICUs, 12 operation theaters, and a helipad for emergency services.
Additional Chief Secretary Sudhir Rajpal emphasized the significance of optimizing the construction area by shifting a government school located on 1.5 acres of adjacent land to a new building proposed on 2.5 acres of land across the road, owned by the Education Department. This move will enhance the hospital’s infrastructure, cater to future medical needs, and ensure smoother public access.
Chief Minister’s Directives
After reviewing the detailed progress report, Chief Minister Saini stressed the importance of adhering to the project timeline. Acknowledging Gurugram’s rapid growth, he directed officials to ensure that the hospital is equipped to meet the city’s evolving healthcare demands.
He also approved the relocation plan for the government school, instructing that the new school building should be designed as a multi-story facility. Until the new structure is completed, the school will continue to operate from its current location.
Focus on Modernizing Healthcare
The Chief Minister highlighted the critical need for modern healthcare facilities in Gurugram, one of Haryana’s fastest-growing cities. He urged officials to make every effort to create a healthcare hub capable of providing high-quality medical care to residents and visitors.
The meeting concluded with assurances from all stakeholders to prioritize the timely completion of the project. Divisional Commissioner RC Bidhan, CMO Dr. Virendra Yadav, and other senior health department officials were also present during the discussions.
