Haryana Government Initiates Welfare Schemes for Underprivileged, Ensures Social Security
Chandigarh, June 22, 2024 – In a significant move to alleviate hunger and poverty among the state’s poorest families, the Haryana government has announced free ration for 45 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) households. Additionally, under the Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (HAPPY), 1 lakh families earning less than one lakh annually will receive free bus travel up to 1000 kilometers annually.
Chief Minister emphasized that no poor person should sleep hungry in the state and highlighted various welfare initiatives, including the extension of Ayushman Bharat Yojana benefits and implementation of pension schemes for elderly citizens. He also underscored the administration’s commitment to delivering government benefits directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries, reducing bureaucratic hurdles.
Furthermore, the government aims to provide housing for 3 crore people across the country over the next five years, building on the success of previous housing schemes initiated during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure.
The Chief Minister assured equitable distribution of benefits and vowed to address grievances promptly through dedicated grievance redressal camps and continuous monitoring of district progress reports.
Prominent social activists and lawmakers commended the government’s efforts to uplift marginalized communities, emphasizing the inclusive development agenda under the BJP-led administration.
