Haryana Government Launches One-Time Settlement Scheme to Support Small Traders

Chandigarh, January 23, 2025 – In a significant move aimed at empowering small traders and enhancing the business environment in Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the implementation of the “Haryana One-Time Settlement Scheme-2025.” This initiative is designed to provide relief to over 200,000 taxpayers burdened by outstanding tax liabilities, fulfilling a key promise made in the government’s manifesto.

The scheme aims to expedite the recovery of dues while alleviating the legal burdens associated with pre-GST tax laws. Under this program, taxpayers with outstanding amounts up to ₹10 lakh will receive a waiver of up to ₹1 lakh, while those with dues ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹10 crore will benefit from a 50% reduction on their tax liabilities. This strategic approach is expected to not only ease financial pressures on small businesses but also stimulate economic activity across the state.

In addition to the settlement scheme, the Haryana Cabinet approved the “Haryana Clean Air Project for Sustainable Development,” which aims to make Haryana pollution-free by 2030. This project, supported by the World Bank with a proposed budget of ₹3,647 crores, focuses on improving air quality in the Indo-Gangetic Plain and reducing emissions across state borders. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental management.

The project will enhance air quality management systems in Haryana and align with national efforts to combat air pollution. It emphasizes designing and implementing region-specific pollution control measures while facilitating coordination among states in the Indo-Gangetic Plain.

The Cabinet also decided to waive recoverable amounts from former employees of various state corporations who benefited from the Old Age Pension Scheme. The total recoverable amount of ₹1.46 crore related to payments made before October 1, 2020, will be forgiven without interest. This decision reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to support its workforce and ensure that former employees are not unduly burdened.

During the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Saini paid tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Parakram Diwas by laying flowers at his portrait. He acknowledged Bose’s significant contributions to India’s independence struggle and reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made in their manifesto.

Looking ahead, Saini mentioned that plans are underway for the “Lado Lakshmi Scheme,” aimed at empowering women. Details of this initiative will be unveiled in the upcoming state budget, further demonstrating the government’s focus on social welfare and economic empowerment.

With these initiatives, the Haryana government aims not only to support small traders but also to promote sustainable development and enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
