Haryana Government Sets Subsidized Prices for Certified Wheat Seeds for Rabi Season 2024-25
The Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department has set the sale prices for certified wheat seeds for the upcoming Rabi season 2024-25, providing significant support to local farmers through a new subsidy scheme. Under the direction of the Director of Agriculture, the state government is offering a subsidy of ₹1,000 per quintal on certified wheat seeds to ensure that high-quality seeds are accessible to farmers at an affordable rate.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana stated that the government remains committed to financially supporting Haryana’s farmers and ensuring the availability of high-quality seeds to boost crop yield and agricultural productivity. This initiative aims to improve farmers’ earnings and promote high crop yields, making farming more profitable and sustainable in Haryana.
The general sale price for certified wheat seeds has been set at ₹3,875 per quintal for all wheat varieties except C-306 and those older than ten years of notification. After the subsidy, the effective price for farmers will be reduced to ₹2,875 per quintal. These certified seeds will be available in pre-packaged 40 kg bags, enabling easy purchase for Haryana’s farmers.
The subsidy, limited to Haryana farmers, is available under the National Agricultural Development Scheme and the State Scheme for Strategic Initiatives Promoting Sustainable Agriculture, both aimed at increasing crop productivity and encouraging sustainable farming practices. The subsidy does not apply to seeds used in demonstrations by government agencies, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), or other promotional activities. To ensure smooth distribution and transparency, all transactions at sales centers will be documented in the sales register. Additionally, officials have been instructed to communicate these guidelines promptly to all employees involved in distribution to ensure a fair and efficient process.
Through these efforts, Haryana’s government underscores its commitment to supporting the agricultural community by making high-quality seeds accessible and promoting sustainable, high-yield farming practices.
