Haryana Government to Rehabilitate Slum Dwellers in Panchkula
Chandigarh, February 19: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal today announced that a comprehensive plan will be soon prepared for the rehabilitation of poor people living in slums in villages Khark Mangoli, Rajiv and Indira Colony in Panchkula district. About 7500 slums have been identified for this scheme.
The Chief Minister was speaking to reporters after inspecting the land identified for the rehabilitation of people in village Khark Mangoli in Panchkula district. Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta was also present on the occasion.
Manohar Lal said that people have been living in illegal slums in villages Khark Mangoli, Rajiv and Indira Colony of Panchkula for years. To remove illegal encroachments and rehabilitate the people, 59.12 acres of land has been identified by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in village Khark Mangoli. HUDA has been directed to hold a meeting with the Forest Department, Public Works Department, Irrigation and Water Resources Department and Revenue Department soon to discuss all aspects related to the said land and prepare a plan.
The Chief Minister said that in order to prepare a plan for the rehabilitation of people living in the slums of Khark Mangoli, Rajiv and Indira Colony, he along with Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta today visited Dhanas and Maloya areas of Chandigarh and interacted with the people living there as well as the officials of the administration. He said that before finalizing the plan, all stakeholders will be consulted and various models will be discussed. If needed, the government will also provide loans to the beneficiaries from the bank.
Manohar Lal said that HUDA has some land along the Ghaggar river, which is not useful due to being in low-lying areas. He has directed HUDA to prepare a plan for the utilization of this land keeping in view the safe flow of water in the Ghaggar river so that the area can be developed in a coordinated manner.
In response to a question about the government’s action plan to make Gurugram, Faridabad and other big cities slum-free, Manohar Lal said that a separate plan will be prepared for each city based on the availability of land and encroachment.
Antyodaya and public welfare will be the focus of Haryana budget
In response to a question about the budget session starting on February 20, he said that the state government’s budget will clearly reflect Antyodaya and public welfare. In response to a question about the demand of MSP by farmers, the Chief Minister said that any problem can be solved through mutual consent. In response to another question, Manohar Lal said that BJP will achieve the target of 370 plus in Lok Sabha elections and 400 plus in NDA. BJP will win all 10 seats in Haryana.
On the occasion, HUDA Chief Administrator TL Satyaprakash, Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sumer Pratap Singh, Municipal Commissioner Sachin Gupta, HUDA Panchkula Administrator Mrs. Varsha Khangwal and other concerned officers were present.
