Haryana’s Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Shruti Chaudhary, directed officials of the Women and Child Development Department to actively promote social change by raising awareness among women. She emphasized that only through awareness can the objectives of the department’s welfare schemes be achieved effectively. Mrs. Chaudhary urged the officials to ensure the proper implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level, focusing on critical areas like Vitamin-D distribution, skill development, and nutrition enhancement for women.
She highlighted the significant role Anganwadi workers can play in campaigns related to water conservation and preventing stubble burning, connecting these issues directly to the overall well-being and nutrition of women and children. Mrs. Chaudhary instructed the department to initiate special campaigns on these topics, stressing the broader impact on public health and the environment.
During a meeting with department officials, the minister outlined that the key pillars of the department’s schemes revolve around nutrition, compassion, and empowerment of women and children. She called for the creation of a detailed action plan chart for the development and implementation of each scheme, ensuring that progress can be reviewed periodically. Mrs. Chaudhary also gathered updates from the officials on the execution of these plans, particularly focusing on the quality and distribution of food under the nutrition scheme for women and children. She emphasized the need for enhanced inter-departmental cooperation to maximize the reach and efficiency of these initiatives. The minister stated that she would conduct field visits herself to oversee the on-ground implementation and asked the officials to do the same, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended women and children.
Mrs. Chaudhary underscored the importance of incorporating technology in the execution of these schemes, in alignment with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. She instructed officers to maintain a high standard of alertness regarding the department’s website, ensuring it is regularly updated and user-friendly. The website should be easy for the public to navigate, with updated links to the schemes for quick access. Mrs. Chaudhary made it clear that negligence in updating the website would not be tolerated, as she plans to review it daily herself. She encouraged efforts to involve youth in the department’s awareness campaigns for wider reach.
The minister gathered detailed information on the distribution of fortified flour, rice, panjiri, and milk intended for women and children. Discussions were also held regarding the establishment of Mahila Chaupal and new Anganwadi centers, which are part of the party’s Sankalp Patra (manifesto). She provided specific instructions on adhering to development standards for children up to six years of age, including parameters like weight and height. Furthermore, she reviewed the progress of the skill training programs aimed at empowering women, with a focus on creating employment opportunities by training them in producing goods from coarse grains.
Mrs. Chaudhary also inquired about challenges and updates related to various initiatives such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mahila Udyamita Yojana, Play School, and Creche Centers, along with the status of filling vacant posts in the department. She assured that recruitment for these positions would proceed according to the rules. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including ACS Amanit P. Kumar.
