Haryana to Strengthen Skill Ecosystem: Chief Minister and Skill University Vice Chancellor Chart Future of Skill Development

In a major push to bolster Haryana’s skill development initiatives, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini held an in-depth consultation with Dr. Raj Nehru, Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Palwal. This meeting, held in Chandigarh on Thursday, was centered on enhancing the state’s skill ecosystem to create a more comprehensive and effective framework for skill-based education and workforce readiness.

Dr. Raj Nehru presented a detailed report of the university’s achievements as India’s first government skill university, along with a roadmap for the future. The discussions emphasized scaling up Haryana’s skill development programs in line with the National Education Policy (NEP), aiming to extend skill training from higher education institutions to grassroots levels. Dr. Nehru highlighted the university’s commitment to leading this mission, expressing that Shri Vishwakarma Skill University will serve as a model for integrating skill-based education across the state.

Chief Minister Saini reiterated his vision to create a skill ecosystem that caters to the evolving needs of Haryana’s economy. “We need to make our skill ecosystem more comprehensive, relevant, and accessible. Haryana’s youth should have the resources and training necessary to compete in a global job market,” he stated. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of embedding skill development into mainstream education, fostering both intellectual and cultural growth in students.

**Focus on Integrating Indian Knowledge with Modern Education**

In addition to discussing the future of skill development, the Chief Minister expressed a need to blend India’s traditional knowledge systems with modern educational models. He praised Dr. Nehru’s recently published book, *Aham Shivam*, a work rooted in Kashmir Shaivism that has gained popularity among scholars of religion and philosophy. Saini congratulated Dr. Nehru for his scholarly contribution, underscoring the importance of merging India’s rich intellectual heritage with skill-based learning to provide students with a holistic education.

Dr. Raj Nehru expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, highlighting that such encouragement fuels the university’s mission to create a skilled, knowledgeable, and culturally enriched youth force. “Our goal is to develop an ecosystem that not only prepares students for industry demands but also encourages them to explore India’s deep philosophical heritage,” said Dr. Nehru.

Future Directions for Skill Development in Haryana

With Shri Vishwakarma Skill University at the helm, Haryana is set to witness a more structured and inclusive approach to skill education. Future initiatives include:
Expanding Skill Development in Higher Education: Integrating skill-oriented courses within colleges and universities.
Grassroots Skill Education: Extending skill programs to schools and community centers across the state, making skill education accessible at the foundational level.
Alignment with NEP: Crafting skill development programs in accordance with the guidelines of the National Education Policy.
Cultural Enrichment: Promoting intellectual and cultural awareness among students, integrating Indian knowledge systems into skill-based curriculums.

The Chief Minister’s meeting with Dr. Raj Nehru reflects Haryana’s strong commitment to nurturing a future-ready workforce. Through a comprehensive skill ecosystem, Haryana aims to empower its youth, equipping them with both modern skills and a profound understanding of their cultural heritage.
