
Haryana Vidhan Sabha Pays Tribute to Prominent Personalities and Highlights Development in First Day of Budget Session

On the first day of the 15th Haryana Vidhan Sabha’s Budget session, a solemn atmosphere prevailed as members of the house came together to pay homage to several distinguished individuals who had passed away since the last session. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan and other members, read out obituary resolutions to honor the memories of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala, and other prominent political figures, including Satpal Sangwan, Kirpa Ram, Surinder Singh Aujla, Chaudhary Karam Singh, Hem Raj, all ex-MLAs, and freedom fighter Baaj Singh. The House also expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families of these respected individuals.
The tribute was a significant part of the day’s proceedings, reflecting the assembly’s respect for the departed and recognizing their contributions to the state and the nation. In a heartfelt gesture, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini led the House in reading out the obituary resolutions, while Speaker Harvinder Kalyan also read the resolutions and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased. The passing of such respected individuals was a poignant moment for the assembly, and it highlighted the respect and admiration these figures commanded.
In the same session, Governor Bandaru Dattatreya delivered an inspirational address, in which he provided valuable guidance to the members of the assembly. He praised the state’s government for its continuous and rapid development, carried out with a focus on the welfare of every section of society. Referring to Haryana’s progress as part of the “Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek” vision, he emphasized the state’s dedication to non-stop development and the government’s unwavering commitment to public welfare.
Governor Dattatreya highlighted how the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, was working at a pace three times faster than before to fulfill the promises made during the third term of governance. He emphasized the government’s focus on ensuring the welfare of all sections of society, from rural to urban populations. The Governor also outlined a series of government initiatives that were helping to uplift the state’s agricultural, industrial, and social sectors.
As part of his address, the Governor also highlighted key achievements in the areas of social welfare, infrastructure development, education, and women empowerment. He noted that Haryana had made significant strides in providing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for various crops, benefitting thousands of farmers. In addition, he praised the government for offering direct bank transfers of MSP payments to over 12 lakh farmers through the e-Kharid portal, thus ensuring financial stability and transparency in the state’s agricultural sector.
The Governor also spoke about the state’s efforts in women empowerment, highlighting the successful implementation of schemes aimed at making women financially independent. Under the “Lakhpati Didi” initiative, which aimed to enable 5 lakh women to become financially self-sufficient, over 2 lakh women had already achieved the status. Furthermore, Haryana became the first state to implement a comprehensive crèche policy, supporting working mothers.
In terms of urban development, the Governor mentioned that 15,256 families had been allotted 30 square yard plots in 14 cities under the Mukhyamantri Shahri Awas Yojana, which was designed to provide affordable housing solutions to the urban poor. Additionally, he spoke about Haryana’s achievements in the education sector, noting the opening of several medical colleges and an emphasis on quality, employment-driven education.
As the session progressed, the House resumed discussions on the Budget proposals. The government’s commitment to achieving the goals of a developed Haryana was evident, as various departments presented their plans for the upcoming fiscal year, focusing on infrastructure, healthcare, and education. The vibrant discourse in the assembly set the tone for the discussions that would follow in the coming days.
The first day of the Budget session not only marked a moment of reflection on the lives of those who had contributed to the state and the country but also showcased the Haryana government’s commitment to continuing its efforts toward socio-economic development. With the support of the legislative assembly and the guidance of the Governor, the government plans to push forward with its vision of inclusive growth and prosperity for all.
