Himachal CM Prioritizes Good Governance and Transparency

Shimla: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has emphasized the importance of good governance and transparency in the state administration. While presiding over the opening session of the DC-SP Conference, he urged district officials to expedite the implementation of state government schemes to benefit the people.
Focus on Development and Public Welfare The Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s commitment to Himachal Pradesh’s development, as outlined in the recent budget. He directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to submit suggestions for improving governance and ensuring efficient public service delivery.
Addressing Public Grievances and Revenue Issues To enhance public service delivery, CM Sukhu instructed DCs and SPs to dedicate two days a week to address public grievances directly. He also emphasized the importance of resolving pending revenue cases, directing DCs to personally oversee these matters and hold regular meetings with revenue officials.
Enhancing Police Force and Combating Drug Menace The Chief Minister pledged to modernize the police force with advanced technology to enhance law enforcement capabilities. He also reiterated the state government’s commitment to combating the drug menace, stating that intensified efforts would be made to protect the younger generation from drug abuse.
Recognizing District Performance To promote good governance and transparency, the state government released the ‘District Good Governance Index 2023-24’. Kangra district secured the top position, followed by Bilaspur and Hamirpur. The Chief Minister presented prize money to the top-performing districts.
A Model State for Inclusive Development Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the importance of district administration in implementing government schemes and programs. He highlighted Himachal Pradesh’s strong performance in various development indicators, such as education, health, and infrastructure, and its emergence as a model state for inclusive and equitable development.
