Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reaffirmed his government’s commitment to comprehensive development during a public meeting at Loharghat in Solan district’s Arki constituency. The event saw the announcement of a new sub-tehsil in Loharghat, addressing a long-standing demand of the local community.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s focus on enhancing infrastructure across vital sectors, including education, healthcare, and road connectivity. He revealed plans to invest ₹600 crore in constructing school buildings over the next three years, ensuring that all schools are equipped with basic and essential facilities.
In the healthcare sector, Sukhu promised to modernize infrastructure in medical colleges and district hospitals, incorporating advanced technology to expand services. “Our government’s vision of ‘Vyavastha Parivartan’ aims to achieve self-reliance and provide opportunities for all citizens to live with dignity and respect,” Sukhu stated, highlighting ongoing reforms and new schemes designed to bring systemic change.
To promote natural farming, Sukhu shared that the government is purchasing naturally grown maize at ₹30 per kg and wheat at ₹40 per kg, with 398 metric tonnes of maize already procured. Urging farmers to adopt natural farming, he stressed its economic and environmental benefits.
He also outlined the government’s strides in the dairy sector, including the inauguration of a state-of-the-art milk processing plant in Dattanagar with a capacity of 50,000 liters per day, benefiting over 20,000 dairy farmers. A similar automated plant is being established in Dhagwar, Kangra, with additional facilities planned across the state.
Acknowledging the challenges posed by last year’s calamities, Sukhu said the government had allocated a special ₹4,500 crore relief package from its own resources to support disaster-hit families. He noted that the aid provided was 25 times greater than previous allocations, showcasing the government’s focus on citizen welfare despite fiscal constraints.
The Chief Minister highlighted the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, which secures the future of government employees, as a major accomplishment. He criticized the previous government for fiscal mismanagement, asserting that his administration prioritizes pragmatic planning, unlike its predecessor, which opened institutions without ensuring sustainability.
Sharing his vision for the state, Sukhu said the government is determined to make Himachal self-reliant by 2027 and the most prosperous state in India by 2032. He reflected on his modest background, pledging to address the struggles of ordinary citizens and ensure inclusive development.
On the occasion, Sukhu honored Nirmala Devi, wife of martyr Havildar Ram Ratan, in recognition of his sacrifices.
Health Minister Dr. (Colonel) Dhani Ram Shandil praised the government’s outreach programs, particularly the “Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar” initiative, which aims to resolve grievances at citizens’ doorsteps. Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi highlighted transformative projects like the ₹101 crore Sukh-Ashray Kosh, aimed at improving the lives of orphaned children.
The gathering was attended by senior Congress leaders, Panchayati Raj representatives, and local dignitaries, reflecting the widespread support for the government’s developmental agenda.
