Himachal CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Launches Simplified Registration for Farmers Adopting Natural Farming

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has introduced a simplified registration form to facilitate farmers in Himachal Pradesh who wish to adopt natural farming. Announcing the initiative during the MLAs’ priorities meeting, he stated that the form could be filled online or offline, making the enrollment process seamless and more accessible for farmers across the state.

The new registration form will enable farmers to easily connect with the natural farming system by providing crucial details about their land, the crops they cultivate, the breed of animals they rear, and their training status in natural farming. These forms will be distributed in all Panchayats, ensuring that farmers statewide have access to the initiative. The move is expected to boost natural farming in Himachal Pradesh during the 2025-26 agricultural season.

How the New Registration Process Has Made Natural Farming Easier for Farmers in Himachal Pradesh

  1. Online and Offline Registration: Farmers can now fill out the form both online and offline, making the enrollment process more accessible.
  2. Simplified Form: The new registration form is easy to understand and requires only essential details about land, crops, and livestock.
  3. Availability in All Panchayats: The registration forms will be distributed in every Panchayat, ensuring that farmers from all regions can participate.
  4. Government Support for Natural Farming: The state government is actively procuring naturally grown crops at the highest Minimum Support Price (MSP) in India, encouraging more farmers to adopt sustainable farming.
  5. Higher MSP for Crops: Farmers are guaranteed better prices, with maize procured at ₹30 per kg and wheat at ₹40 per kg.
  6. Market Access Through ‘Him Bhog’ Brand: Naturally grown maize flour is being sold under the government brand ‘Him Bhog,’ ensuring direct market access for farmers.
  7. Verification by ATMA Staff: The Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) staff will verify farmers’ forms at the field level, ensuring transparency and authenticity.
  8. Integration with CETARA-NF Portal: The registration process is connected to a digital platform (CETARA-NF) to monitor and analyze agricultural resources in real time.
  9. Government-Backed Distribution Channels: Natural produce is being sold through Fair Price Shops and Wholesale Units, providing farmers with a stable market for their goods.
  10. Boost to Rural Economy: With increased government support and easy registration, more farmers can transition to natural farming, enhancing rural livelihoods and sustainable agriculture.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to promoting natural farming, the Chief Minister revealed that the government had recently procured 398.976 MT of naturally grown maize from 1,508 farmers at ₹30 per kg—the highest Minimum Support Price (MSP) for maize in India. A similar approach will be adopted for naturally produced wheat, which will be procured at an MSP of ₹40 per kg. To promote natural farm produce, the government has introduced maize flour under the brand name ‘Him Bhog.’ As of February 1, 2025, 38.225 MT of maize flour has been sold through 1,054 Fair Price Shops, while 73.52 MT has been distributed through the Wholesale Units of HP State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd.

Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Chander Kumar emphasized that the ATMA staff would verify the registration forms at the field level to ensure accuracy. The forms will be connected to the CETARA-NF (Certified Evaluation Tool of Agriculture Resources Analysis of Natural Farming) portal under the PK3Y initiative, ensuring an efficient monitoring and evaluation system for farmers engaged in natural farming.

The event was attended by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, AYUSH Minister Yadvender Goma, State Planning Board Vice Chairman Bhawani Singh Pathania, Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, MLAs, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, and other senior government officials.
