Himachal Government’s Key Achievements: Congress Stands Firm in Fulfilling Promises Amid BJP’s Criticism

Himachal Pradesh’s Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani has strongly defended the Congress government’s achievements while targeting BJP leaders for spreading misinformation and distorting the efforts made by the current administration. Speaking out against the opposition’s continuous falsehoods, Dharmani stated that despite repeated claims from BJP leaders, falsehoods cannot be turned into truth. He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the state’s economy and its determination to fulfill all promises made during the election.

Minister Dharmani made it clear that the Congress government has already fulfilled five key election promises, and the remaining promises are well on track to be completed. He cited the government’s financial prudence in generating an additional Rs. 2,200 crore over the last year by closing irregular channels, which are now being utilized to fund social schemes aimed at supporting the underprivileged. The BJP’s narrative, according to him, was designed to mislead the people of Himachal, distorting the state’s financial achievements and the current government’s efforts in public welfare.

The minister particularly criticized BJP leaders from Himachal for spreading negative propaganda nationwide, which he argued was harming the state’s image. He called on these leaders to apologize to the people of Himachal for their baseless accusations. In contrast, he emphasized that the Congress government was not only committed to fulfilling its promises but also going beyond expectations in serving the people.

One of the most significant achievements highlighted by Minister Dharmani was the government’s success in paying salaries twice to state employees in October, a move that showcases the Congress administration’s commitment to ensuring financial stability for workers. In just two years, the government has also issued three installments of the 11 percent dearness allowance increase. Moreover, pension arrears for senior citizens aged over 75 have been cleared, despite inheriting Rs. 10,000 crore in pending liabilities from the previous BJP government.

Another major initiative was the restoration of the old pension scheme, which was implemented by the Congress government in its very first cabinet meeting. Additionally, the Congress government has raised the daily wages of MNREGA workers to Rs. 300, set the minimum wage at Rs. 400, and increased police diet allowances from Rs. 210 to Rs. 1,000. The government has also launched special programs aimed at supporting widows and other marginalized sections of society, making it clear that the Congress government’s focus is on inclusive welfare.

Dharmani didn’t hold back in his criticism of BJP leaders’ response during the natural disaster last year that affected the state. While the state was grappling with massive devastation, BJP leaders were more concerned with political games and did little to alleviate the suffering of the affected people. They failed to press the central government for the much-needed relief and were not supportive of the Congress-led efforts for disaster relief. In stark contrast, the Congress government had mobilized Rs. 4,500 crore from state resources to provide immediate relief. The compensation for house damage was raised from Rs. 1.30 lakh to Rs. 7 lakh, and 23,000 families were rehabilitated despite the state not receiving any central relief package.

Minister Dharmani also revealed that while the Congress government submitted claims worth nearly Rs. 9,500 crore under the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment, the BJP leaders’ efforts to mislead the central government have delayed the release of these much-needed funds. He accused the opposition of continuously blocking the disbursement of relief money, a move that undermined the state’s ability to provide timely assistance to its citizens.

In a message of hope and compassion, Dharmani highlighted the Congress government’s commitment to public service. The government has adopted orphans as “Children of the State” and is funding the education of children from widowed families. Additionally, the government is working to implement welfare programs that will benefit all sections of society. While the BJP, according to Dharmani, is engaged in political deception aimed only at staying in the limelight, the Congress government remains focused on delivering results for the people.

Through these efforts, the Congress government has demonstrated that governance, based on the principles of accountability and transparency, can lead to tangible improvements in the lives of the people. As the state moves forward, the focus remains on strengthening the economy, improving public services, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
