Himachal Pradesh Congress Leaders Slam BJP’s Working Committee Meeting as “Mere Praise” of PM Modi
In a joint statement, Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar and Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania criticized the BJP’s recent working committee meeting in Una as a mere “Gungaan” (Praise) of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, arguing that the BJP’s popularity has declined and its claims of ‘400 Paar’ (winning over 400 seats) have been proven wrong by the people of the country. They stated that the BJP had to rely on support from other national and regional parties to form the government at the Centre.
The duo countered the BJP’s claims, stating that the previous BJP government in Himachal Pradesh halted subsidies for pesticides, neglecting the interests of fruit growers and farmers. They also accused the BJP of denying employees their rightful financial benefits, exploiting their rights, and withdrawing benefits for a dignified retired life. The Congress government, they said, restored the old pension scheme and released pending dearness allowance, ensuring a secure and dignified future for government employees in the state.
The Congress leaders also criticized the BJP government’s decision to halt subsidies for pesticides, which they said had a negative impact on fruit growers and farmers. They accused the BJP of making reckless decisions to lure innocent people by opening unnecessary institutions and spending recklessly on organizing big rallies at government expense to show off their strength, providing no real benefit to the people of the state.
The duo reminded the BJP of its involvement in the electoral bond scheme fraud, which they said exposed the party’s blatant disregard for transparency and accountability, severely undermining the trust of the youth and the electorate[1]. They also criticized the BJP’s handling of the recent NEET scam, which they claimed played with the future of lakhs of youth[1].
The Congress leaders praised the present government’s efforts to provide employment and self-employment opportunities to the youth through schemes like the Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Start-up Scheme and the Rajiv Gandhi Natural Farming Start-up Scheme. They also highlighted the government’s commitment to prudent financial management, supporting farmers, ensuring government employees’ financial stability, and restoring subsidies for farmers and horticulturists.
