Himachal Pradesh Considers New Compassionate Employment Policy to Support Bereaved Families

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the state government is planning to introduce a new compassionate employment policy aimed at offering job opportunities to dependents of government employees who lose their lives during service. Addressing a high-level meeting, the CM emphasized adopting a sympathetic and liberal approach to assist affected families, particularly widows and orphans.

The Chief Minister directed officials to gather comprehensive department-wise data of applicants. He assured that the policy would be crafted to maximize benefits, ensuring fair and considerate support for deserving candidates.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to employee welfare, CM Sukhu mentioned the reinstatement of the Old Pension Scheme in the very first Cabinet meeting, ensuring financial security post-retirement. Additionally, he pointed out that an 11% hike in dearness allowance was provided within two years of the government’s tenure, benefitting both employees and pensioners.

Key officials, including Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi and Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, attended the meeting to discuss the policy’s framework and implementation strategies.

This initiative reflects the government’s focus on supporting the well-being of employees and their families, reinforcing its dedication to a compassionate governance model.
