Himachal Pradesh Floods: Devastation Unveiled as 33 Bodies Recovered from Beas river, Foreign Tourists Rescued

Heavy devastation caused by floods in Himachal Pradesh continues to emerge, with a total of 33 bodies recovered so far in the Beas River from Kullu to Mandi. In Kullu district alone, 26 bodies have been recovered, while the Mandi police have retrieved seven bodies. The recovery of bodies remains ongoing, and some of them are yet to be identified. The Kullu police have recovered 18 bodies from the flood-affected areas of the Beas River and eight bodies from Shri Khand Mahadev. Meanwhile, the Mandi district police have recovered seven bodies, with four yet to be identified.

During the disaster, 667 foreign tourists from 29 countries have been safely rescued from Kullu and other affected areas. Search operations are underway to locate 22 missing tourists from various states. Rescue operations have successfully evacuated 444 climbers from Israel, 160 from Russia, and 40 American citizens. In total, the Kullu police have safely evacuated 11,000 vehicles and 70,000 individuals. The control room set up for assistance will remain operational until September 15th. The district police, under the leadership of SP Mandi Soumya Sambasivan, have demonstrated commendable work during this crisis. National Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also tweeted, commending SP Soumya of Mandi Police for her outstanding efforts. She noted that the police personnel stood tirelessly with the people day and night, without rest, during this calamity. The police personnel are currently serving in affected areas on duty for 24 hours. DG PSanjay Kundu stated that the police have wholeheartedly accepted the challenge posed by the disaster and are performing exceptionally well in the state.
