Himachal Pradesh Government Initiatives: Empowering Women and Ensuring Stability
In a significant move towards women empowerment, the Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, approved the implementation of the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi scheme. This initiative fulfills the Congress Party’s promise made during the Assembly elections in 2022, providing a monthly pension of Rs. 1500 to eligible women aged 18-59 years, ensuring financial security and support throughout their lives.

The State Cabinet’s approval of the scheme reflects a commitment to prioritize the welfare of women and fulfill electoral promises.
Eligible women in the age group of 18-59 years will receive a monthly pension of Rs. 1500, providing financial stability and support.
Strengthening Education and Employment Opportunities
The Cabinet deliberated on recommendations to address the issues of SMC teachers and computer teachers, chaired by Education Minister Shri Rohit Thakur.
Approval was granted for the recruitment of 2401 SMC teachers through Limited Direct Recruitment on a contract basis, with provisions for regularization in government service.
Additionally, 985 posts of Lecturer (Computer Science) will be filled, enhancing employment opportunities in the education sector.
Upholding Democratic Principles and Stability
The Cabinet reaffirmed its support for Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and condemned attempts by the Government of India to destabilize the democratically elected government.
It denounced the use of official machinery by the BJP to undermine democratic processes and resolved to inform the public about such propaganda, asserting the government’s commitment to completing its full term.
Infrastructure Development and Administrative Measures
The Cabinet urged the Government of India to expedite the release of Rs. 9043 crore for Post-Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA), essential for addressing recovery and reconstruction efforts.
Rationalization of the engineering staff of H.P. Forest Department was approved, with eligible officers/officials granted promotion and their services placed at the disposal of borrowing departments.
Administrative measures included the creation of a Sub Tehsil at Bhadoli in Kangra district, and the establishment of a Community Health Centre at Darlaghat in Solan district and a Primary Health Centre at Pihari in Kangra district.
Promoting Cultural Heritage and Healthcare Services
District-level fairs, Suhi Mela Chamba and Saho Jatar Chamba, were declared, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The Cabinet approved the upgrading of posts in the healthcare sector, including the creation of an Assistant Professor position in Cardiology at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda.
Administrative control of various infrastructure projects, such as the Super Specialty Block Chamiana and sections under H.P. Public Works Department, was streamlined to enhance operational efficiency.
