A horrific accident occurred on the Jogindranagar-Mandi National Highway in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday morning, leaving 25 students, 2 teachers, and the school bus driver injured. The incident took place near the approach road to Mandi, about a kilometer from Jogindranagar town.

According to reports, a private school bus carrying students and teachers was en route to school when it collided head-on with a truck coming from the Mandi side. The impact of the collision was so severe that the truck was also pushed off the road.

The deafening cries of the children filled the air as the accident unfolded. All the injured were rushed to Jogindranagar Hospital in 108 ambulances. While most of the students who sustained minor injuries were discharged after first aid, two students, Anshika (resident of Shannan) and Suryansh (resident of Hargunain), along with two teachers, Hemraj (39) of village Dramman and music teacher Dharamchand (28), are undergoing treatment.

The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The truck driver has been booked under relevant sections of the law.

This unfortunate incident highlights the need for stricter road safety measures in Himachal Pradesh, especially on the busy national highways. Regular checks on vehicles, enforcement of traffic rules, and driver awareness campaigns are crucial to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
