Himachal Pradesh Special Voter List Revision Adds 1,42,699 New Voters for Upcoming 2024 Elections
Shimla, September 1: In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, the Himachal Pradesh State Election Commission has completed its Special Summary Revision of the electoral rolls. This revision has resulted in the addition of 1,42,699 new voters to the voter list. With this update, the total number of voters in the state has now increased to 54,95,869.
The revision, conducted between July 21 and August 19, 2024, saw a significant response from citizens registering as new voters. The exercise was aimed at including young voters and ensuring that all eligible citizens are registered to vote in the forthcoming elections. The process was carried out across all districts in the state.
Here’s the district-wise breakdown of newly added voters:
1. Bilaspur – 2,356 new voters added, total voters: 3,12,879
2. Chamba – 10,665 new voters added, total voters: 3,90,912
3. Hamirpur – 12,204 new voters added, total voters: 4,23,753
4. Kangra – 26,260 new voters added, total voters: 11,44,703
5. Kinnaur – 583 new voters added, total voters: 59,129
6. Kullu – 6,158 new voters added, total voters: 3,52,719
7. Lahaul-Spiti – 260 new voters added, total voters: 29,730
8. Mandi – 22,476 new voters added, total voters: 8,85,193
9. Shimla – 12,101 new voters added, total voters: 6,34,012
10. Sirmaur – 7,619 new voters added, total voters: 4,20,248
11. Solan – 10,564 new voters added, total voters: 4,56,459
12. Una – 8,453 new voters added, total voters: 3,85,132
Additionally, during the revision period, 32,920 names were removed from the voter list due to various reasons, and corrections were made to 52,798 voter details. Electoral officials urged citizens to verify their details and ensure any discrepancies are corrected ahead of the elections.
The revised voter list, effective as of August 21, 2024, is available for public viewing at all polling stations and on the official website of the Himachal Pradesh State Election Commission.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Himachal Pradesh emphasized the importance of voter participation in the upcoming elections and urged all eligible citizens to exercise their right to vote.
