Himachal Pradesh Weather Forecast: Thunderstorms, Hail, Rain, and Snow Expected for Next 3 Days

Shimla, April 25, 2024: The weather in Himachal Pradesh will remain clear and dry on Thursday, but a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms, lightning, hail, rain, and snow for the next three days starting Friday. During this period, many parts of the state are expected to receive rain and snowfall. There is also a possibility of rain/snowfall in the middle and higher mountainous regions on April 29 and 30, while the plains will remain dry. Due to the cold weather, there is no heatwave alert as yet.

Details:

On Wednesday, despite the yellow alert, most parts of the state, including the capital Shimla, experienced sunny weather. However, light rain occurred in Bhuntar, Kalpa, and Manali. Hailstorm and light to moderate rain with thunder occurred in various parts of the state during the last 24 hours. Sujanpur Tiraha received 25.5 mm, Palampur 17.4 mm, Jogindernagar 7 mm, Baijnath 6 mm, Dehra Gopipur 3.2 mm, Manali 3 mm, Kufri 2.8 mm, Bharmour, Hamirpur, Dalhousie 2-2 mm each, Narkanda 1.5 mm, Shilaru 1.2 mm, Bhuntar and Sainj 1-1 mm each. The maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius in Una and 22.6 degrees Celsius in Shimla, while the minimum temperature was 2.2 degrees Celsius in Kelang and 11 degrees Celsius in Shimla.

Road Closures:

As of now, only 3 NHs and 80 roads are closed in the state, out of which the highest number of 2 NHs and 73 roads are closed in Lahaul-Spiti district. In Spiti division itself, 73 roads are closed. One NH and 3 roads are closed in Kullu. Only 3 electricity transformers are down in Tissa sub-division of Chamba district. The situation is normal in other districts of the state.
