Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to discuss strategies for reducing expenditure and increasing revenue. During the meeting, it was decided to increase the honorarium of daily wagers from ₹375 to ₹400. Additionally, the process of appointing 357 conductors has been completed, and they will soon start providing their services.

The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that HRTC will soon complete 50 years of its existence, a matter of pride for the state. He emphasized that the corporation’s buses serve 70 lakh people in Himachal Pradesh, underscoring its importance in the state’s transportation network.

Agnihotri announced that HRTC will purchase 297 electric vehicles, with tenders to be floated soon. Additionally, 24 old Volvo buses will be replaced with new ones. The discount scheme on bus fares will continue as before. The corporation will also purchase 100 tempo travelers for specific routes to ensure comfortable journeys for commuters. Furthermore, 250 diesel buses will be purchased in the near future.

The Board of Directors thanked the state government for providing adequate grants, stating that the corporation is committed to providing salaries and pensions to its employees. The Managing Director, Rohan Chand Thakur, assured that the corporation’s functioning will be improved, providing better services to the people and increasing revenue.

The meeting was attended by Board of Directors members Ranjit Singh Rana, Ram Gopal Sharma, Mohinder Sandhu, Pradeep Surya, Nishant Thakur, and Manmohan Katoch, Managing Director D.C. Negi, Special Secretary Finance Vinay Kumar, and other senior officials. The corporation’s commitment to enhancing services and reducing expenditure reflects its dedication to serving the people of Himachal Pradesh effectively.
